Blogging Success: How Often Should You Blog to be successful?

How often to blog to be successful is a question that I often ask myself. Is once a month to little to keep my readers? Is everyday information overload that will eventually end up in my readers spam folder? These are the questions I am seeking out to answer. I know some top bloggers post 3-4 times a day and others just once a week.

You see, the Internet is a extremely interactive atmosphere, and its interactions come from the individuals who’re browsing. Blogging success comes from using your blog as your means of communicating with your readers. There are no clear cut answer to how often you should post a new article. At the end of the day it really boils down to the relevancy of your blog and post. If you ask 10 different bloggers, you will get 10 different answers.

I personally go by these 4 rules for blogging success.

1. How important is the information that I am posting about?

If I need to share some hot time sensitive information. Then i will post regardless. But always remember to ask your self if this information will be just as important to my readers.

2. How much time do I have?

If I only have 1 hour a day that I can dedicate to my blog, then i will only post once a week. On week where I have more time but remember to not let the quality of your bog suffer due to your lack of time. Always make your you post quality information.

3. Am I direct marketing a product or service?

I generally only market or promote a product once every 6-7 quality blog post. I live by the rule if I post quality information 85% of the time, then 15% of the time it should not bother my readers if I am directly or indirectly marketing a product or service.

4. Quality vs Activity

When I first started blogging, I believed that the amount of articles were more important than the quality. But after a couple of years of blogging I have reversed my position. Through trial and error I found that my RSS subscribers and traffic went up when I posted less frequently but provided better written post.

So if you are looking to take your blog to the next level, try these guidlines. You should even come up with some of your own.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU BLOG? I LIKE TO KNOW.
